new mom tips

so here is my first post & i decided to share all of my "new mom" tips.  i intended to do this blog to get out all of my creative ideas but since i've been on maternity leave for the past 3 months this is where my research and creative energy has been directed.  here are the sites and tips i just sent out to a few of my friends that are pregnant or soon to be.

enjoy!
-these are the greatest swaddling blankets i used this summer for wrapping ruby like a burrito, a stroller blanket (good to keep the sun out & light enough so she won't overheat), also to use when i breast feed in public instead of carrying a breast feeding cover & a stroller blanket.  i've quickly realized you want to bring as little as possible when heading out of the house.

-this is a baby photographer i used when i did ruby's announcements, she is great to work with and really reasonable.

-this is where i registered, i love the organic moses basket & stand, ruby has slept in it next to our bed for the past 3 months instead of a bassinet.  it's great to transfer her into other rooms if she's asleep.  i put the snuggle nest in it so she can sleep on her side and be more supported.  this is a weird tip but make sure you change sides your baby sleeps on everyday and throughout the day because a friend of mines baby only slept on one side and her head was lop sided and the baby had neck issues.

-a good place for moroccan poufs in the nursery

-they have really great gliders

-i got my crib bedding here, they also have amazing sheets & pillows for the rest of your home

-clothes

-i would 100% recommend getting a night nurse for the first week or two after you arrive home from the hospital. we contacted the woman below who was booked the time we needed her but she gave us a bunch of names that we interviewed and ended up with veronica hijonosa 310-365-8042 and she was a great help

-everyone said to get mustella lotions/products...but i really don't like the smell...maybe it's just me but i love burts bee and classic johnson&johnson.  the night nurse swears by aquaphor which i use too.

-get an extra changing pad cover, they get dirty pretty easy.

-diapers are a personal thing but i tried every organic one out there and they all either fit bad or were extremely scratchy.  i'm obsessed with "pampers swaddlers sensitive" diapers because they're soft and they have a yellow line down the front that turns blue when it's wet.  genius for new moms getting the hang of it and on the go changing.

-i love my breast feeding pump (medela freestyle breast pump), it's fast, small and great for traveling.

-you can never have enough blankets, i love little giraffe one's because they are sooo soft and comfy.

that's it for now, more to come as ruby grows up and i grow as a new mom.

As you know my baby is the same age as Ruby and i have pretty much used all the the same products as you. Im not sure if you were talking about Bluesy with the head thing but anyone reading this should definatley follow Susans advice on switching sides that the baby sleeps. Since babies nowadays spend so much time on their backs they can develop 'Flat heads' and if it gets bad enough they may have to wear a helmet for a while to reshape it.
