san ysidro ranch...heaven on earth

My husband Tim & I just experienced our 5th wedding anniversary. We didn't have anything in the books for a trip (due to crazy work schedules). But when Tim mentioned he was heading up to Santa Barbara to work on a record for a month I thought I better use this as my opportunity to go visit San Ysidro Ranch. To my surprise they were pet friendly and kid friendly. So we packed up Bixby our dog and we all headed up north on an impromptu family vacay (we booked it the morning we left). We pulled up to the driveway of the ranch and our jaws dropped. The drive was lined with tons of lavender bushes and it was gorgeous. The weather was warm and you could see the ocean. There were beautiful gardens and the bungalows were all nestled behind trees. We stayed in the "terrace" house which was 2 bedrooms and we had 3 flat screens and our own jacuzzi, it was way too much but i'm not complaining. We had our breakfast and lunch on the deck where you could see bunnies and birds. We had a jacuzzi outside our bedroom and an outdoor shower. Bixby had his own dog bed, water and food bowls. Ruby had her own kidsize bathrobe. At dinner we met a couple from Silverlake and they also had their two year old son Koji with them. Ruby and Koji spent the evening running around the lettuce patches and citrus gardens playing chase. This place was absolute heaven on earth, we had the best time and I would highly recommend it. I mean it is forbes magazines best hotel in the world.

p.s. the santa barbara zoo was cool too!!
